Canadian Immigration Struggles
Keith Ferrell
Immigrated from Jamaica in 2006 and currently makes his home in Toronto, Ontario. He has training in Information and Library science but ever since immigrating has been struggling to get a job in that field even with his qualified credentials. For four years he worked a minimum wage job at a call centre until the company made the executive decision to close its Toronto operations and Keith found himself out of a job. On his job struggles he says "I guess I'm seeing the not too bright side of Canada." (Schaad; May 15, 2012)
Sofia Prada
Immigrated to Canada from Colombia in 2004. She says of her experience in Canada; "Employers are not comfortable with the lack of Canadian experience. But, how are we supposed to get experience if they do not give us opportunity to start?" (Schaad; May 15, 2012)
